About the Sentence Counter
Sentence Counter tallies the sentences in your text as you type, using terminal punctuation (period, question mark, exclamation) to detect boundaries. It is handy when a task is measured in sentences rather than words.
Pair it with the live word and reading-time stats to judge pacing and readability. Your text never leaves your browser — everything is computed locally.
Common uses
- Meeting a "3–5 sentence summary" requirement.
- Spotting overly long or run-on paragraphs while editing.
- Estimating readability alongside words-per-sentence.
Frequently asked questions
How does it detect a sentence?
It looks for sentence-ending punctuation (. ! ?) followed by a boundary. Common abbreviations can occasionally be miscounted, as with any automated tool.
Do bullet points count as sentences?
A bullet without terminal punctuation may not register as a sentence. Add a period if you want it counted.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. All counting happens locally in your browser.
