About the Text Sorter

Text Sorter reorders lines by whichever rule you choose: alphabetical (A–Z or Z–A), by length, or numerically. Options let you ignore case and remove duplicates in the same pass.

A quick way to organise lists — names, tasks, data rows — without a spreadsheet. Your text never leaves your browser — everything is computed locally.

Common uses

  • Alphabetising a list of names or terms.
  • Ordering numbers that arrived as text.
  • Sorting lines by length to spot outliers.

Frequently asked questions

Can it sort numbers correctly?

Yes. Numeric mode compares values, so 2 comes before 10 (unlike plain alphabetical sorting).

Does it change the lines themselves?

No — it only reorders them. Turn on the de-dupe option if you also want duplicates removed.

Is sorting case-sensitive?

You choose. There is a toggle to ignore case for alphabetical sorting.
